Poca's Craft Corner

Hi, I'm Pocahontas! I love making things, and this is my space to teach you how to do it, too!

MAKE A 12 INCH DOLL MATTRESS + BEDDING with Jane Porter's help

Materials: Shoe box lid, hot glue, duct tape, fiberfill, fabric, doll

Step One:

Measure doll's height against that of your shoe box lid. You want them to be around the same length.

Step Two:

Measure your fabric around your lid. It should be able to wrap around the edges and be stuffed, so allow for extra.

Step Three:

Flip over your lid and fold your fabric around three of the edges. Secure with duct tape.

Step Four:

Stuff!

Step Five:

Seal it up with more duct tape!

Step Six:

Admire your mattress.

Step Seven:

Cut fabric for a pillow. Just eyeball it- but remember, more is more! I've made my friends quite a few too-small pillows.

Step Eight:

Put a glob of fiberfill in your fabric, fold over, and secure with hot glue. When it dries, test it out on your doll. DO NOT ACCIDENTALLY GLUE THE PILLOW TO THE HAIR. It is not a happy incident when that occurs. Trust me. The doll may never forgive you if the damage is permanent…

Step Nine:

Cut some fabric in a blanket shape that is too large for the doll.

Step Ten:

Hot glue a border on.

Step Eleven:

 “Hem” with more glue.

YAY! It's done!
