March 1, 2014- Backstory Continued

Okay, where were we? Ah, yes. My intro. Right.

Well, a few days ago, MyLittleMegara was looking at pictures of people's Disney dolls when she stumbled upon Belle's Bulletins. Soon, she was reading post after post of Belle's life.

"What's up, Mama?" I asked.

"Not much, Meg," she answered.

"What are you reading?"

"A blog. It's been written by a Belle doll from the Disney Store." She clicked back to the first post and had me read it. Soon, I was wrapped up in Belle's romance-novel-like life.

"I love this!" I grinned from ear to ear.

"I thought you would," MyLittleMegara answered.

"Umm... Mama?"

"What, sweetie?"

"Can... I have a blog, too?"

"I'll see what I can do," was her only answer. Then... I was back on the shelf by Esmeralda.

Now, I have a blog (obviously) and I want to say a huge thank you to Belle and her human, Beast'sbelle, for helping me realize that I would love to share my vinyl-headed thoughts with the world and inspiring me to do so.

*INTERNET HUG!*

Thanks, you guys! <3 :)

I'm not some kind of fairytale heroine who has everything figured out from tiara to glass slippers. That would be my buddy Cinderella.

I'm not even royalty, like most of my friends, and the movie I'm from is most definitely not "in."

I was modeled after Megara (from Hercules) in 1997. My life has been a series of boxes, small children's faces, and more boxes. I've seen thrift stores and Craigslist and eBay... Over time, I lost all of my original clothing and accessories other than the base dress. Oh, and my hair... well... you can see it in the picture. The longest I ever stayed in one place was three years- that was my first home, from 1997 to 2000. My most recent box was a reddish magenta, covered in Christmasy words and phrases- Noel, Merry Christmas, etc. I left that box on Christmas Eve of 2013 to be greeted by MyLittleMegara, who was following to family tradition of opening one present after dinner on the 24th. Following a hunch, she'd selected my box and VOILA! She was thrilled. As it turns out, she'd been looking for a Meg doll for two years straight.

That night, she let me have free reign of her room while she slept. I got my first glimpse in the mirror for four years at that point and let me tell you it was NOT a pretty picture.

Light socket hair and a grubby face does not a beautiful princess make. I'm almost positive that I screamed when I saw my hair. The sound must have alerted the other dolls to my existence, because I heard someone call "Who's there?"

"The names Megara!" I called back," My friends call me Meg. At least, that's what they'd call me if I had any friends."

I started walking towards where I thought I had heard the voice. Evidently, the voice's owner was doing the same thing, because we smacked into each other and fell in opposite directions.

"Ow!" the girl said.

"Sorry," I mumbled. Great first impression, Meg. Just wonderful.

"I'm Esmeralda," my victim said as she helped me up. She took my arm and walked me over to a bookshelf  full of ponies and books. Climbing up the rungs of a nearby 18" doll wardrobe and scrambling up the bookcase's shelves, she hoisted herself up to the top.

I followed her, clumsily making my way up to where Esmeralda had gone.

"These are MyLittleMegara's other Disney dolls," she said, pointing to each one in turn: "Belle, Snow White, Aurora, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Ariel, Mary Poppins, Jasmine, Tiana, and Merida."

*NOTE* Since then, MyLittleMegara's collection has grown quite a bit. This was on December 24th, don't forget!

"Hi," I said, "I'm Meg."

"We know," Tiana grinned, "we heard you."

"We're your new friends," Ariel burst out, "since you don't have any. What?"

Esmeralda was giving her an extremely dirty look. "Sorry about her-"

"It's fine," I interrupted, "I'm glad that I have a chance to make friends."

"We're glad to have you! Would you like to be my roommate?" Esmeralda inquired.

"Of course."

And from then on, Esmeralda and I were best friends. :D  We did everything together. It doesn't seem like we've only known each other for about two months. All of the girls seem almost like sisters, especially Esmeralda. I mean, a lot can happen in two months! Since then, we've welcomed 6 new dolls: Kida, Mulan, Jane, Pocahontas, the Fairy Godmother, and Giselle. It's been wonderful to get to know them and hear their stories.

The worst thing that happened was an accident involving one of the humans stepping on Esmeralda and breaking her leg at the knee.

Luckily, MyLittleMegara and her mother were able to glue her back together and she's good as new. Just a little less flexible and a whole lot more careful. :}

My hair is still a mess, although my face is clean. I'm hoping MyLittleMegara fixes it soon.

Oops... Mama needs her computer. I'll finish my back story later. :)

February 22, 2014

We'd all had a great morning. Ariel had taken a three-hour-long bath, Cinderella had spent the same amount of time looking at pictures of animated Disney princes with Aurora and Snow White, Pocahontas had taken Jane Porter for a walk in the snow, Mulan and Merida had had some kind of target practice... you get the picture.

Anyway, we were all sitting down to lunch when a voice started to call "Hello! Hellooo-ooo! Is anybody there? Hello!"

"Do any of you recognize that voice?" Belle asked.

"No," Esmeralda, Snow, Poca, and Rapunzel all answered in unison.

"I'll go check it out," Kida announced, grabbing her spear.

"Whoa, girl!" I stood up.

"Hellooooo!" The voice came again.

"Whoever that is doesn't sound too dangerous," I continued. "You don't want to scare them, Kida! I'll go with you."

"Meg, you don't have to do this. If they're a threat-"

I rolled my eyes. "I'll be fine, Kida; I'm a big, tough girl. Tie my own sandals and everything."

"Fine," my friend grinned. We left the table and had almost gotten to the door when we saw a face peeking around it.

"Hello?" The girl called.

"Hello!" I said, walking towards her.

"Oh! Hi," she smiled, "are you one of MyLittleMegara's dolls?"

"Yes," Kida said, coming up behind me.

"Oh! Well, I'm Giselle. I was on my way up to your room but I wasn't sure where to go and I heard voices. So I tried calling you."

She said all this in a sweet, musical voice that reminded me of a small bird.

"The name's Megara. My friends call me Meg. And this is Kida," I introduced us.

Kida smiled at Giselle and nodded. "MyLittleMegara didn't tell us you were coming," she said, "but we're glad to have you. Follow us, please."

Giselle walked back with us to where everybody was eating. "Hello," she said as greeting to my friends.

"Hi," Jasmine said, "I'm Princess Jasmine."

That got everyone else started. Soon, Giselle and the others we're swapping stories, names, and food like they'd known each other all their lives. At one point, Mary Poppins asked Giselle how she'd ended up in MyLittleMegara's home.

"Well, Mary, MyLittleMegara picked me up in a thrift store earlier this month. She cleaned me up a few days ago and today she told me to look for her other dolls, as she was writing a report and didn't have time to take me to you herself," she explained.

I smiled and we all chatted some more. Snow White, who had been sitting next to Giselle, looked up from her food.

"Excuse me, Giselle, but I have a question for you."

"What is it, Snow?" She asked.

"We all sleep two to a room. Well, all of us except for me because I don't have a roommate. I was wondering- would you like to be mine?"

"Of course," Giselle answered, a little shyly.

It was obvious to me that these two were destined to be the best of friends, like Esmeralda and I were. I caught my friend's eye and smiled. She winked back and put her arm around me.

Basically, we spent the rest of the day getting to know Giselle. She's a very sweet doll who had come from a little girl's home. But then one day, the little girl she lived with, Madison, stopped caring about dolls very much. She took most of her collection, including Giselle, and left them at a thrift store. Being a glass-half-full kind of doll, Giselle just waited for the right new owner to come. Sure enough, MyLittleMegara found her and... here she is.

Right now, the Fairy Godmother is helping her pick fabric for her new bed and I'm sitting at MyLittleMegara's computer typing this while she indulges herself in a little snack before going back to the report. Oh- here she comes. I guess that means I have to stop. Hopefully, I'll be able to write more soon.
